My interest in photography was first ignited by my late father, who was an avid amateur photographer. His photographs -- and his vintage Nikon FA -- are some of my most prized possessions. I was about 10 when I learned to develop my own film, and I've been shooting since 2007.

I love photography for its ability to capture details and expressions that celebrate someone's personality and relationships, and I believe all families deserve to be represented -- especially in their own homes.

My former career as an educator helps me relate to people of all backgrounds, especially families and children with different abilities.

In addition to photography, I love sewing and music, and I studied piano at the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music.

I live in Dallas with a cat, a collie, and my husband, artist and photographer David Kirkland.
